La Jaibita, a new, affordable Mexican seafood restaurant has opened up on Hildebrand, just a short three-minute drive from the famous blue-sailed building that houses El Paraiso Ice Cream. Owner Edgar Lopez told MySA that his goal with La Jaibita was to serve up "traditional Mexican mariscos," with his own signature style.
For example, La Jaibita, or little crab, has several seafood-centric caldo bowls, including the hearty caldo de mariscos, a soup filled with shrimp, octopus, mussels, clams, fish and crab legs for $18.55. There's also fish tacos for $5.15, a fried fish and fry plate for $13.39, a whole section devoted to fresh ceviche and more.
For guests coming in hungry, La Jaibita also has two large seafood dishes, served in molcajetes. For example, there's the $36.95 molcajete de mariscos, a shareable dish featuring shrimp, octopus, mussels, clams and fish, all drenched in a house-made sauce.
